AREA ONE- LEIGHTON CLARK NOVELS.

NOVEL BY LEIGHTON CLARK

THE SIXTH SEASON, GUDJEWG.”

Crocodiles and the Last Frontier – Darwin N.T.

Why don’t you begin with a real Northern Territory outback story about one man and one crocodile?

O.K. Yes, you are interested but you want more information first?

Leighton Clark wrote the novel: “The Sixth Season, Gudjewg.”

“Gudjewg is my first novel and is named after the sixth season of the Gagadju tribe from Arnhem Land. It is a story about crocodiles and men, more so about one particular crocodile and the man who relentlessly hunted the crocodile. The following photograph shows the real “Sweetheart” caught alive (a temporary state) after it made a number of attacks.

My story is fiction but there is a lot of truth, fact, and real people lurking in the swamps and lagoons in my novel.

FACT:

The Col Stringer book, “Sweetheart” tells the story of how this particular crocodile attacked boats, and refers to a specific attack on a boat that contained my brother Kel.

LEIGHTON CLARK

That crocodile didn’t get anyone, but if you read my novel you will see how this is done. Man against beast. Beast against man.

Croc attacks!

A WEBSITE ABOUT CROC ATTACKS?

Let’s say that you are more interested in FACTS about crocodiles and the DANGER that they represent – check out my website on crocodile attacks. The website is called, The Crocodile Chronicles Australia.

If you would like to check out the website just click on the link to the site.

A few kind people have told me that my site is the most interesting site on crocodiles in the N.T.

There is a list of over 300 attacks and more coming – so keep your eyes open.   And when I say this, I mean in the water.

Happy hunting! From the author.

Is this a fairly big croc? Well, it is big, being a tad over 5 metres.

And what a gigantic mouth.

This website of mine (yes I take the credit and the criticism) is up and operating. You can visit the site now.

P.S. The site is also about Darwin, N.T. It is about Territorians, the Old Darwin, and the last frontier called the Northern Territory.

It includes a section called Missing Military. It is my own creation listing all known (to me) servicemen, whether cadets or CMF, soldiers, sailors, airmen or Vietnam Vets, who enlisted in Darwin. I know a great many of them, one way or the other.

AREA THREE – LEIGHTON CLARK BOOKS NON – FICTION.

 NON FICTION NO 1.

CATTLE STATIONS IN THE OUTBACK?

A true story.

“Buying and Selling Boorara.”

In 3 Big Volumes.

You may well have an interest in Australian Cattle Stations?

The wild, remote kind?

Well, then read my true story “Buying and Selling Boorara.”

Trilogy.

This is a true story told in Three Volumes. Apart from the long and complex, authenticated-history, which covers many years and a number of owners, this my true story.

The focal point of the Trilogy is the last of my outback properties.

You see, it is about the iconic Western Queensland station, Boorara Station, via Eulo Qld. This is the last station that I bought and/or will ever own. I desired it for 30 years before I bought it.

But the book goes a lot further than telling my story as it reveals the life and history of some of the true pioneers, the owners, the workers, the families, and the neighbours of Boorara Station. It is in my own opinion, a rich and detailed account of life in the remote outback.

The first release will be Volume One, which brings to light the long years of station history (from 1861) while opening the door to the experience of neighbouring stations and their owners, families, and workers.

“The History of Boorara Station.”

Leighton Clark  -from my point of view?

“I loved it, I bought it, and I sold it.”

ABOUT THE “BOORARA” BOOK AND BOORARA CATTLE STATION.

The three volumes are:

  • 1. The History of Boorara – 160 years of history from 1861.
  • 2. Preparing for Boorara – A purchase some 30 years in the making.
  • 3. Buying, Owning, and Selling Boorara.

I will provide a lot of information in three detailed volumes, each containing a substantial body of general information, details, facts, and imagery; this will allow me to paint the picture in bold colours. It is my fervent hope that potential readers realize that this is a labour of love.

A TRUE STORY

“LIVING AND DRINKING IN CARLTON & FITZROY IN THE SIXTIES.”

MY TRUE STORY.

This is a true story of a time not too long ago when things like living and drinking were very different. This is especially true of life in the old suburb of Fitzroy; it was much the same in Carlton, in North Melbourne, Kensington, and a number of other places. It was especially true in respect to the wild drinking, the fighting, and the interesting characters who strutted the stage of my personal history.

THE BEST PEOPLE IN FITZROY AND CARLTON – 1967.

“THE LIFE AND TIMES OF S.J. CLARK – REDUX.”

My late father, Stuart, wrote his own life story in some 30 pages. Given my own propensity for verbosity, something he pointed out to me, just for fun, I choose to rewrite it for him. A kind of eulogy, adding to, and clarifying some of the aspects of his own short volume.

“HOW TO BUILD A 48 FOOT TRIMARAN”

BY LEIGHTON CLARK.

This is a true story of two crazy young men who, in the early 70s, built and launched a 48 foot trimaran, reputed to be the largest in Australia at that time. The tri had a 24 foot beam, and six double bunks in separate cabins.

The amazing thing is that these two young blokes, one just out of the army and the other just finished with the navy, raised the cash, and built the boat in double-quick time. This is an incredible story of “living the life” and it is not just because they launched this big trimaran when they were only just 23 years of age.

I know because I was one of the two young men.

This is a work in progress – 70%.

At this point you may wonder why I choose to write five books simultaneously?

I don’t!

The books choose me. They beg and cry. They whinge and they wheedle continuously to get their their way, offering me promises of reward and instead throwing impossible challenges in my path.

It is not really my choice, but it sure as hell is living life to the fullest.
